Faithful Friday - Give Me Your Eyes

Brandon Heath - Give Me Your Eyes from Brandon Heath on Vimeo.

This week I have continued to study the first part of James. However, today as I listened to the song by Brandon Heath, Give Me Your Eyes, this song is what had the most meaning. As I searched for 3 hours on a verse that would be perfect for this song the closest I could find was Matthew 22:37-39. 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it; Love your neighbor as yourself.' (If you happen to know of or come across a verse that goes well with this song I would love to hear it) The primary thing God asks us to do is to Love, to love Him first and second to love others as we love ourselves. If we love God completely and love others unselfishly then all of our attitudes and actions will end up aligning with all of the commands, instructions, guidelines and standards of God's Word. In the Love Dare today it talked about how Love is NOT Selfish and how WE are all selfish, but we need to put the happiness of others above our own. Selfishness is the opposite of love. If we stop for just a moment and take our minds off of ourselves, what would we see? If we truly do open our eyes and look at others with an open heart, what would we see? I really do want to see people through God's eyes, seeing past my own problems, my own struggles. Each day as we go through our routine, we all cross paths with so many people. But how often do we stop to think of those people, to pray for them, to reach out to them, to meet them where they are… to even care about them? We get so wrapped up in our own lives and our own routines that we forget to really see the world around us.
I challenge you (myself included), for this next week, to be more aware of the world around you. Give others an extra measure of grace, for we know not what battle they are facing in their lives. This goes along so well with my challenge for the day. My prayer is: to see Justus as the child of God that he is, to see him with God's eyes, to love him with God's love. To see the things I've been missing. To have God's arms to wrap around him to heal his broken heart.
When it came time for him to get off the bus today I was afraid of what challenges I may have to face. I spent all day in the Word, and in prayer, and am feeling pretty good. However, today as he came though the door, my fears were put aside, as I looked at him with a smile, and he gave me his school papers, excitedly telling me about his good day and his homework he has. Today I am suppose to buy him something that says I am thinking about him. My kids defiantly don't need any new toys right now, so I put some thought into this and with his attachment disorder thought it would be perfect if we (Chris and I) take him out tonight, just him, for a special night.

I attached the 'Give Me Your Eyes' music video at the top for anyone who cares to see it, but I also added it as my first song to be played on my blog for now, so you all will hear it.

I think it is a wonderful thing when music motivates us to go find the answers in his Word.
