Jake, Kara and I will be leaving on Monday for a week long missions trip to Agua Prieta.
I have been going down to Mexico in December for the last 4-5 years for a missions trip. We take toys, food, coats, blankets and stuff down to missionaries who live in Agua Prieta. These missionaries have build a refuge for the homeless men and a childrens center for the underprivledged kids to come. Some of what they do in the childrens center: a medical room, hair cuts, they have a play center, they will feed the kids, and also have classes for them where they teach them about Jesus and they are introduced to English. While we are down there some of the things we do are: distrubute items to these families, serve them meals, play with these kids, and we do a kids crusade. As you pull into these area's you see some of the poorest living conditions, the kids are not clean, and the girls use gourds as their dolls. Sami went with me last year, it is a real eye opener. It also touched her little heart, she realized how lucky she is to live here in America, and have all the nice things she has. It gave her a heart for missions where she want to help others who are less fortunate. I will be taking Jake with me this year on this trip. We will be leaving on Monday, December 8th, and return on Sunday.
Yesterday we got our first real snow of the year. The ground is covered so of course we had to dig out the snow boots, snow pants, and gloves and they had the sleds out in no time and were sledding down the hill.
